About Dorian Home

According to Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, there are 17.5 million orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) nationwide. These orphaned and vulnerable children are not just deprived of parental care and guidance, they also lack access to the basic necessities of life: healthy food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, education and emotional support that is critical to their growth and development. This in turn exposes them to a high risk of exploitation; child labor, child trafficking, sexual abuse, and a life of criminality, drastically reducing their chances of attaining a higher quality of life.

The absence of parental care and guidance has proven to have significant adverse effects on the physical well-being and psychological development of children. With the ever-growing numbers of orphans and vulnerable children in Nigeria, Dorian Home is making a difference in the lives of these children. Orphaned and vulnerable children need to be protected, nurtured and cared for to ensure their proper development and future economic security.

At Dorian Home, we are offering orphaned and vulnerable children a safe space where their overall wellbeing is assured. Dorian Home is committed to redefining charity and social welfare and offering orphaned and vulnerable children access to basic human needs, quality education, health care, psychosocial support and essential developmental skills needed for life’s success.

This project is a long-term project that aims to cater for orphaned and vulnerable children through their most critical formative years, (0-18years) until they are old enough to cater for themselves. Dorian Home works with her Vision Partners towards the growth and development of the children living at the Home. With funding from individuals, local and international donor organizations both in the private and public sectors, we will be able to reduce the number of out-of-school children in Nigeria and Africa.

Sponsoring a child at Dorian Home comes with an exciting feeling; the feeling of raising and guiding these leaders of tomorrow on their life’s path gives us immense joy. This is what gives us special joy at Dorian Home. In a world where there are more than 10 million out-of-school children, we believe that children are special gifts from God; and for them to develop accordingly, we must support them. The Bible says that Children are like arrows in the hands of a mighty man.

With a sponsorship of 25 dollars or 17,000 naira, you can support a child’s basic Education at Dorian Home. You can partner with us in our quest to redefine Charity and social welfare by providing orphaned and vulnerable children a safe space they can call home.

We rise by lifting others...
A word from our president

We live in a world where love and compassion for the less privileged has become scarce. In the bid to make ends meet, people often find it difficult offering a little help to the less privileged around us or to give hope and care to those who are hopeless or hurting.

When I began the vision of Dorian Home in 2011, I wanted to help a few children scattered in various orphanages find a better life as our budget would permit. As we reached out to these children in various orphanages, I was touched by their plight – the environment they were being raised in and the kind of education they were exposed to. I was moved to build a befitting place where they could feel loved and valued.

When the Dorian Home vision was conceived, I wanted the Children in Dorian Home to find a Home away from home. I wanted them to experience comfort and peace in an environment that will nurture them to become mentally and emotionally sound while being nationally and globally relevant.

Secondly, I wanted to create an avenue where less-privileged widows will have the opportunity to acquire skills that can help them to fend for themselves. This is why we built the Dorian Home Skill Acquisition for women.

In all of this, we do not give because we have; we give because we have the heart. Dorian Home is an opportunity for anyone to be part of something laudable. We want to give people an opportunity to leave a legacy in the lives of the children being raised at the Home as well as the women whose lives will become better by the skills they will acquire at the home.

At Dorian Home, we are passionate about giving hope to the hopeless, helping orphaned children and less privileged widows find a better life.
